Working with the media helps our research reach the widest possible audience and have the most impact. We want to alert the public to the level and nature of the threat posed by the far right, and we believe working with established media organisations gives us the platform we need to achieve this. However, we also publish stories on our website.

Yes. Our aim is to oppose the far right through exposing their activities. However, we also uphold journalistic standards of truthfulness, accuracy and fairness in our reporting. Relaying rumours, gossip or unsubstantiated allegations can only discredit our work in the eyes of the public at large.

Investigating the far right comes with a degree of risk, particularly from the subjects of our investigations. To mitigate this we choose to publish our work anonymously. We believe our work speaks for itself and it is rigorously vetted by the journalists we work with.

No. We are generally critical of the police, as well as how the state responds to the threat posed by the far right. In Britain and elsewhere, the police have a history of institutional racism and sexism, and are involved in the repression of movements for liberation and social change.

Many police officers hold racist views and belong to or support far-right groups. The British state enacts racist policies and its security services have cooperated with and lent support to far-right groups. The UK’s counter-terrorism strategy is ineffective and counterproductive, and UK counter-terrorism laws are some of the most expansive and draconian in the world.

Our expertise and focus is on the far right. We are a small collective and are all volunteers so we have to be clear about the scope of our investigations.

While the far right is almost always transphobic and conspiratorial, we consider it distinct from conspiracy and anti-transgender rights movements, which are not always far-right in nature (although there are many overlaps in terms of membership and beliefs).

We are funded through a crowdfunder, which you can donate to here. We also have received funding from Edge Fund. If we receive funding from any other sources we will update this answer accordingly.

Generally speaking, we are not open to taking on new members. However, if you have specific skills that you think would be useful to us or our investigations, you are welcome to contact us.
